Spanish Synagogue

About

The Spanish Synagogue stands in the very heart of Prague’s historic Jewish Quarter and is widely regarded as the most beautiful synagogue in Europe. Built in 1868 in the stunning Moorish Revival style, it replaced the Old School (Altshul) - the oldest synagogue in the Prague ghetto. Inspired by the architecture of the Alhambra, its interiors are richly decorated with golden arabesques, geometric motifs, and ornate stained-glass windows.

After a major renovation completed in 1998, the synagogue reopened as one of the most breathtaking cultural spaces in the city. Today it forms part of the Jewish Museum in Prague and continues to attract visitors from all over the world with its extraordinary atmosphere.

Once inside, you are surrounded by intricate patterns, warm colors, and a majestic central dome. The combination of architectural beauty and historic legacy creates an ambience that is both peaceful and deeply inspiring. It is a place where culture, history, and emotion meet.

Concerts held here offer a rare opportunity to experience live music in a venue of exceptional beauty. Thanks to the building’s remarkable acoustics, even the softest musical details resonate clearly and warmly throughout the hall. Whether the program features classical masterpieces, spiritual works, or popular melodies, the sound in this space elevates every performance to something unforgettable.

These concerts are ideal for all types of visitors — couples seeking a romantic evening, families exploring Prague’s culture, and travelers looking for an authentic experience beyond traditional sightseeing. Many guests describe a concert here as one of the highlights of their stay in Prague.

As the synagogue is a popular venue, seats often fill quickly. We recommend booking in advance to secure the best experience.
