Prague Castle, Lobkowicz Palace
Enjoy classical concerts in the Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle — a Renaissance gem with a world-famous art collection overlooking the city.
Lobkowicz Palace is a beautiful Renaissance palace at Prague Castle. Built in the second half of the 16th century by the Pernštejn family, it is today the only private, family-owned palace within the Prague Castle complex. The palace has belonged to the Lobkowicz family for over 400 years — since Polyxena of Pernštejn married the 1st Prince Lobkowicz — and although it was twice confiscated during the 20th century, by the Nazi and Communist regimes, it was returned to the family in 2002 and opened to the public after a careful restoration in 2007.
The Art Collection
The palace is home to one of the oldest and most valuable private art collections in Europe, with paintings by masters such as Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Canaletto, Cranach and Velázquez. Its music collection is equally remarkable — historic instruments and rare scores bearing handwritten annotations by Mozart and Beethoven. Visitors can take a tour of the palace to learn more about its history and the art on display.
Classical Concerts
In addition to its art collection, Lobkowicz Palace also offers visitors the opportunity to attend beautiful classical concerts in its stunning concert hall. Concerts take place in the palace's Baroque Concert Hall, decorated with 17th-century frescoes — including the popular midday concerts held daily.
Lobkowicz Palace is a must-see destination for art lovers and music enthusiasts visiting Prague. The palace offers a unique opportunity to experience the city's rich history and culture while also enjoying beautiful art and music.
