Broadway Theatre

About the venue

Ballet classics and black light magic under one roof — the Broadway Theatre in the famous passage between Na Příkopě and Celetná.

The Broadway Theatre sits in the heart of Prague's Old Town, inside the functionalist Broadway Palace (formerly Sevastopol), built in 1936–1938 to the designs of architects Bohumír Kozák and Antonín Černý, whose elegant passage connects the bustling streets Na Příkopě and Celetná. Today its stage hosts both classical ballet performances, such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, and the spectacular WOW black light show.

From Cinema to Theatre

For decades the hall served as a cinema — first known as Sevastopol, later Cinema Broadway — until 1998. In 2001 it was completely rebuilt into a modern three-tiered theatre with a unique trapezoid-shaped stage, and reopened in February 2002 with the premiere of the musical Cleopatra. Today the auditorium seats 732 visitors, with a further 35 seats in twelve side boxes.
