The Three Metro Lines
The Prague metro is the fastest way around the city. The network has three lines, each known by its letter and colour:
Three stations connect the lines: Můstek (A ↔ B), Muzeum (A ↔ C) and Florenc (B ↔ C). Transfers are free — one ticket covers your whole journey.
Opening Hours and Frequency
The metro runs daily from about 5:00 a.m. until midnight. Trains come every 2–3 minutes during rush hour and every 5–10 minutes at other times, so you never need a timetable — just walk in and wait for the next train.
After midnight, night trams (lines 91–99) and night buses take over until about 4:30 a.m. They run roughly every 30 minutes and regular tickets are valid.
Tickets and Prices
One ticket covers the metro, trams and buses, including transfers. Tickets are slightly cheaper in the official PID Lítačka mobile app than on paper; both prices are shown below.
Children and seniors: children under 15 and seniors over 65 travel free — carry an ID as proof of age. Paper tickets must be validated once in the yellow machine at the entrance to the metro station; app and contactless-terminal tickets are valid right away.

Getting to and from the Airport
There is no metro or train station at Václav Havel Airport. Take trolleybus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín (line A, best for the centre), bus 100 to Zličín (line B), or the Airport Express straight to the Main Railway Station (line C).
